That’s the jewelry tree I made at Xmas for myself with accessories. Now that I’m back in Luxembourg where I keep my necklaces, I could test the design.
No matter why you are buying your jewelry, whether for yourself or as a gift, it is important to know the proper way to care for jewelry as well as buy and sell it responsibly. This article will provide you with tips and tricks to get the most from your jewelry shopping time and efforts.
A magnet is a useful tool when shopping for jewelry in sterling silver. Metals that aren’t precious will connect to the magnet, signaling that it is fake. True sterling silver will also have a mark on it to indicate its quality, such as “0.925” or “ster”. Silver jewelry that lacks a hallmark may be a fake or composed of other metals.
When purchasing jewels, you should understand which type of stone you are getting. You have three options as far as the type of gem: natural, imitation and synthetic. Natural gems and synthetic gems are real gemstones, whereas imitation is just an item of plastic with gemstone colors. The only difference between natural and imitation gemstones is where they are made. Natural occur naturally, while synthetic stones are grown in labs.
Be sure to at least inquire about the insurance that is available when you buy jewelry from a reputable jeweler. Then, you will have peace of mind knowing it can be fixed or replaced if anything happens. In some cases, insurance policies will cover lost, misplaced or stolen pieces.
The color gemstones are an important consideration when shopping for new jewelry. Choose stones that complement your complexion and that best reflect your personality. Your best bet is to choose a natural color to match any outfit. If it isn’t a functional piece, you will not use it and it is pointless to purchase it.
If you are buying jewelry for someone who values her individuality, find a one-of-a-kind piece or commission a piece designed specifically for her. Giving a gift that requires thought and creativity will make it even more special.
A brooch will add an interesting aspect to the belt. Place the broach in the middle of your waist for the best effect.
Look for sales when you want to buy some new jewelry. You can save big money with the right sale. Sales can be found online, in store windows, or in your local newspaper. Sometimes, you can save about half the original price on trendy pieces that aren’t as trendy anymore.
Untangle a delicate necklace easily. While it can be frustrating untangling metal necklaces, consider using plastic wrap. Place your jewelry on the plastic wrap and add a little baby oil. You would then untangle the necklace using needles. Wash with dishwashing liquid then pat dry.
Know what you want to do with jewelry prior to purchasing it. You don’t need a box full of unused jewelry. Think about which outfits you will wear the jewelry with while you are shopping.
If you are trying to sell jewelry online, it is important to post ample photographs from many angles so that each piece is presented in a pleasing and accurate way. A nice photo and description is essential since your online customer will not be able to see the piece in person. Make sure any photos of the jewelry focus on the item itself and don’t have distracting backgrounds or additional items.
